So you wanna be a HS Varsity baseball player? What about a D1 athlete or better yet - live out your dreams of making a living on the big stage! By all means - dream BIG but do you know what it takes to get there?! The reality is no travel organization can make this happen on their own. It takes a village. Lofty goals require thoughtful consideration….more specifically a coordinated effort between coaches, trainers, parents, and of course the athlete. Our players have program mentors that have reached each of these levels and are impactful in helping map out an athletes journey. No matter what - it takes Discipline, Routine, Education, Action, and Mentality to turn these dreams into reality!
The philosophy at Maryland Nationals Baseball is to balance physical training with skills development in a competitive environment, in order to develop players that are not only prepared, but sought after by high school coaches.
Everything we do at Maryland Nationals Baseball - every practice - every game - every major or minor decision we make, is routed in what’s in the best interest for long term player development. Facilitating a growth mindset from this aspect creates a positive culture for coaches, players, and parents alike.
Player training is multi-faceted. Our goal is to keep our athletes in the game as long as possible, focusing on their mental approach or “6th Tool”. We preach to our players that a disciplined and focused mindset breeds confidence early on in their development and is the key to long term success. With each stage we layer on new responsibilities and accountabilities. As an organization, we are invested in helping each and every one of our players reach their full potential.

‘Progress over perfection’. Maryland Nationals baseball is a youth based developmental program serving the greater DC area. Our focus is providing high-level instruction and development for aspiring young athletes, while working within the constraints of the busy lifestyles today’s modern families face.
Our teams train hard and play hard - make no mistake - they are athletes first - baseball players second. Developing long term success is a process - as an organization we trust it.
We know that there are a number of local baseball organizations that you could trust with your athletes development. Our history of preparing players for high school baseball is well documented. 100% of our players that have come through our program has made their high school roster at some of the most competitive baseball programs in the area.

We limit the number of teams we have at any one time. Therefore we have limited roster spots. Prospects must go through a tryout process to be selected into the program.
There’s a number of reasons, but first and foremost I would say take in a practice or training session to see for yourself. The structure and discipline with which we train is conducive to developing ballplayers that are ready to contribute at the high school level.
Travel ballplayers no matter how successful they are on that stage don’t always transition well to the high school Game.
Players no matter what age group should have an advanced skill set. We are a competitive travel program focused on high school player development.
We try to offer easily accessible practice locations. Our players are from all over; from DC to upper Montgomery County Maryland and points in between.
The short answer is no. Some of our most accomplished high school players didn’t play travel ball before entering our program at an average age of 12 years old. However, by this age they were dedicated to prioritizing baseball as their predominant sport.
Players are discouraged from playing on two travel teams mainly to prevent arm injuries and overuse. We want players to have a positive experience and with a full calendar of baseball there is no way to avoid schedules overlapping.
Absolutely. We encourage players to play little league if at all possible. We ask that players prioritize our practices and games however players are able to miss our practices for a scheduled little league game.
Coaches don’t determine playing time, players do. Any player, regardless of age or skill set must earn their playing time which comes in the form of attitude, work ethic, and performance. The ability for a player to impact their team on game days in a positive light is key to a player receiving playing time. As a program we understand that playing time is a major component to development, however it must be earned.
We do. On average our teams play 4 tournaments in Fall and 4 in Spring. Some local and some out of town.
Summer season is 100% tournaments.
Each roster has 11-13 players. As we age up to 8th grade and above rosters increase in size to prepare kids for competitive high school ball.
Up to 12u: players will have 2 practices per week and a doubleheader series on sundays. Some weeks players will play on Saturday and Sunday (tournaments) and during the week if we schedule a rainout or scrimmage.
13u and above: players will have 2 practices in addition to a midweek game and either 2 games on a weekend or up to 5 on a tournament weekend.
High school baseball in the DC metro area is highly competitive. All of our players have a common goal of preparing for this stage in their development, so there is an expectation that players have and do execute a practice routine daily. Over time we find this to be the single most impactful action to a players success.
Our program has a private indoor training facility, and is one of the only ones in the DMV with access to full size indoor turf fields.
Our professional staff offers group and private training opportunities almost every day of the week. From position specific training to strength training - we focus on complete player development .
This is our state of the art training center accessible to our players and advanced high school age, college, and professional players.
The Lab is outfitted with everything from HitTrax, to programmable Spinball machines and Hack attacks with feeders to high resolution cameras and radar technology.
12u and below is $1195 Fall and $1395 Spring.
13u and above is $1595 Fall and $1895 Spring.
Winter workouts which is mandatory for all players to prepare for the season is $750 which covers 8 weeks of 2.5 hour indoor training sessions.
In addition to the seasonal fee is the tournament fees. This is one fee to cover your players participation in the selected tournaments each season divided amongst the families. On avg this fee ranges from $300-$550.
Other fees include uniforms. Our program has a sponsorship with Evoshield who provides our players with gear at a discounted rate. Typical cost is $250 to outfit your player.

The mission of our developmental league is to create a strong baseball foundation and lifelong desire to compete, in a welcoming and non-judgemental athletic environment. The love for the game established through this league speaks for itself and is the reason why we have a 100% player return rate. Ask anyone of our developmental league players what the most fun they’ve ever had in baseball is, and emphatically they’ll answer “Maryland Nationals Baseball”.
How do we do this?
It starts with the right attitude. The formula for baseball development is quite simple at this age. 1. Have fun! 2. Work really really hard!
Screaming at players?
You won’t see that in our program. Our fun factor is off the charts, which is why the effort from our players isn’t artificial, it’s instinctual and a byproduct of them enjoying the process. It’s the best way to keep them in the game long term.
5 minutes at one of our games and you’ll understand just what we mean.
Each game is modeled after the major league experience where our players are the ones on stage.
* 125ft Home Run Fence

Our games are a communal experience where regardless of the final score, everyone walks away with a smile on their face.
Youth Maryland Nationals baseball players
"The Maryland National program makes fun for the entire family - creating a supportive, amazing learning environment for my baseball fanatic son, while providing entertainment and ”Jack’s Snack Shack“ for my other child! Thanks Coach Joey and crew!”
"Although it may not be wise to quote Bryce Harper in this area anymore, his slogan "Make Baseball Fun Again" is always what comes to mind when I think of this team and Coach Joey. It's a perfect mix of refining skills and learning strategy while being encouraged not to take any one at-bat too seriously. And above all Coach Joey wants to make sure the kids are having fun because, after all, this IS a game that they are playing."
"The Maryland Nationals baseball team is a special ball program because you have a talented and enthusiastic coach with an energetic teaching style who is invested in a great group of kids who all get along well with each other."
